Why you need a Massage as an Athlete!

 

As an athlete, you take care of your body with great nutrition and lots of water. You do your best to maintain your muscles with stretching and training. All of these are great, so why would you, an athlete, need a massage? Athletes push their bodies. Sometimes further than the body wants to go. When this happens your overly worked and often damaged muscles retain a substance called lactic acid and other metabolizing substances. These substances while working out are essential and beneficial. However, they can also hinder your performance if you don’t properly care for the muscles AFTER your intense workouts. Massage can help remove these extra acids out of the muscles allowing room for healthy oxygen filled blood cells to come in and repair the muscle fibers.
